Bio

Tomas was born in 1969 in Malmo, Sweden and started playing the saxophone at the age of 10. At 14, he joined Skurups big-band and went on to play with Big Blowin' band in Ystad from 1989 to 1994.

In 1992, he was accepted into the music program at Fridhems folkhögskola.

In 1994, he traveled to Boston, USA to study at Berklee College of Music, where he received private lessons from Jerry Bergonzi, Hal Crook, and George Garzone. He played a musical at the National Opera in Seoul, South Korea in Fall 1996, and also worked as a studio musician, recording for different rock bands and TV dramas in Korea.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee in Spring 1998 and moved to Copenhagen. In October 1998, he played on a cruise ship for four months, cruising the Caribbean. In Fall 1999, he moved to Malmo and worked with 'Dåliga Mänskor' at the Malmo Music-Theater.

In Fall 2000, he was employed at the culture school in Höganäs. As a freelancer, he has played with bands and people such as Tomas Franck, Anders Bergcrantz, Fabian Kallerdahl, Monday Night Big band (SE and DK), Beijbom/Kroner big band to name a few. He also does workshops, courses, and gives private lessons in improvisation. He has lectured about improvisation on behalf of SJR.
